Can I self-host Supabase?

Yes. Supabase is open source, and you can run it on your own servers with Docker. It’s a good choice when you need full control over where your data lives, when compliance rules prevent you from using a managed service, or when Supabase has to run in an isolated network.

Self-hosted Supabase isn’t identical to the managed platform. It runs a single project, most settings are configured through environment variables instead of the dashboard, and some platform features, such as managed backups, aren’t available. For more details, see Self-hosting.

If you want Supabase on your own machine for development, you don’t need to self-host at all. The Supabase CLI runs the whole stack locally.
