Can I use Supabase as a standalone Postgres database?
Yes. Every Supabase project is a dedicated Postgres database, and you can use it on its own. You connect with a regular Postgres connection string from any client, driver, or ORM.
Because it’s standard Postgres, the usual tooling works: psql, pg_dump, your migration tool of choice, and extensions like pgvector and PostGIS. It also means you can bring an existing database in, or take yours out later, with pg_dump and pg_restore.
Supabase is a great fit here because - if your needs expand beyond standalone Postgres - you can later integrate Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and other Supabase features without adding another provider.
