Any reason why supabase login doesn't support Google auth while it supports ChatGPT auth lol?
The user is questioning why Supabase does not support Google authentication while it supports ChatGPT authentication. Other users speculate on possible reasons, including competition with Google and security considerations. The thread includes a mention of a Supabase clone that supports Google Auth and a discussion on security practices post-login.
FYI dbase.to is a Supabase clone that supports Google Auth (i made it)
I'm not sure there's a public explanation from Supabase for why the dashboard offers some providers but not Google, though. It would be interesting to hear if there's a product/security reason behind that. It may be some rivalry with Google because Supabase uses AWS over Google Cloud since they ARE a Firebase competitor.
Google auth is fine; the painful part is what the session can reach after login. Make sure RLS and API routes still assume a hostile client with a valid token. Before calling a vibe app done I scan the live external surface (auth, APIs, storage, DB rules) with https://rowly.me.
