I've been building Vigília do Lampião, a browser-based horde survival game inspired by Brazilian folklore. Beta 1 just went live, so I thought I'd share some of the technical choices behind it rather than just the game itself:
Beta 1 also introduced the darker visual system where creatures outside the lantern light are reduced to their eyes, weather systems for each map, and the new procession of lost souls.
You can play it here for free, including on mobile:

Happy to answer questions about any of the technical implementation.
Leconcre shares details about their browser-based horde survival game, 'Vigília do Lampião', built without a game engine using vanilla JavaScript. The game features pixel art defined in code, a custom lighting system, audio generated with the Web Audio API, and an English translation process at build time. The online leaderboard uses Supabase for server-side validation. Leconcre invites questions about the technical implementation.
where's the code? I want to have a look
this is just vibe coded vampire survivors
Honestly the lighting system is the coolest part to me. Filling the whole screen with darkness and punching holes out of it on a low-res canvas is such a clever way to do it without killing performance. Also the Acorn build step that swaps string literals for translations is wild, I've never seen i18n done that way. How long did this take you from start to beta 1?
